Kim Streby, Director
Mrs. Streby has been on the DIVA faculty for over ten years. After receiving her B.A. in music from Albion College, Mrs. Streby went on to study voice at Indiana University with Carol Smith, where she performed in many operas and musicals, including. Patience and Little Mary Sunshine. Mrs. Streby has been an in demand soloist in the Flint Area for over ten years. Along with teaching at DIVA, Mrs. Streby has also taught voice at Marygrove College's Center for Creative Studies and at Whaley Children's Center. Mrs. Streby currently teaches music at St. Mary's Catholic School, St. Mark's Lutheran School and continues to teach at Whaley Children's Center with Jean Weamer. Ms. Streby is a performing member of St. Cecilia.
Jean Weamer, Vocal Instructor
Mrs. Weamer holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree with a major in voice, from the University of Michigan-Flint, and a Master of Education degree from Oakland University. She has taught private voice for twenty years; seven of which were at the Flint Institute of Music. Mrs. Weamer sings classical solos locally, and recently sang several arias in the opera Dido and Aeneas in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Mrs. Weamer currently directs several choirs at Court St. United Methodist Church, Flint, and teaches general music with Kim Streby at Whaley Children's Center. She is a performing member of the St. Cecilia Society..
